This is our second year hosting the Flash Mob and, since the last time we hosted was a success, we thought it only fitting for everyone to meet, once again, at one of the most prominent landmarks in the area, Signal Hill. Signal Hill is also the place where the first transatlantic wireless signal was transmitted from, which helped pave the way to the wireless technology we have today, including GPS technology which makes Geocaching possible. And if you need a third reason to meet here, the name of the official mascot of Geocaching is Signal!
This year marks the 13th year of the WWFM and we decided to play on the fact that 13 is considered the unluckiest number. In fact, in Toronto, most hi-rise apartment buildings do not have a 13th floor. The elevator shows "...11..12..14..15...". To counter the unluckyness of 13, we are asking everyone to wear green , just as you would on St. Patrick's Day. You can also bring luck-related items such as horseshoes, rabbits' feet, four-leaf clovers, etc. Note: Please don't kill any rabbits to get the foot and please make sure that there are no horses attached to the horseshoe.
There will be a FTF prize as well as various prize draws which might fall prey to bad luck. You will also have a chance to win a special commemorative geocoin by trying your luck at a game of horseshoes. There will also be various refreshments served, and, with a bit of luck, there might also be a couple of geocaches for you to find afterwards...or NOT.
The event will follow the following format:
- Pre-2:30PM - Hang around the area but do not form a large group (Hide your green as best you can)
- 2:30PM - Meet as a group at Ground Zero
- 2:30PM - 2:40PM - Introductions
- 2:40PM - 2:45PM - Draw for the First-To-Find (FTF) prize.
- 2:45PM - 2:50PM - Group photo
- 2:50PM - Depart GZ to Refreshment area (see attached coordinates)
- 3:00PM - Have a games of lucky horseshoes, more prize drawings, refreshments and meet n' greet.
We hope that luck is on our side and that you all can make it. Please RSVP so we know how mucch to plan for. Thanks!
