The church and manse at Auchaber were built in 1843, following the establishment of a Free Church congregation in the parish of Forgue. In 1900 the Free Church at Auchaber became the United Free Church, and then in 1929 the Parish of Forgue Auchaber. Various unions and other changes took place as congregations declined after the war, culminating in 1992 in the union of the two parishes Ythanwells-Auchaber and Forgue-Inverkeithny, coming together as Auchaber United. In the following year the parish was linked with that of Auchterless, a single minister becoming responsible for a flock spread over a significant area! In the late '90s I had the pleasure of working for a time with the husband of the then minister.
Despite the continuing fall in congregation numbers, services are still held every Sunday at 10am. Various other church groups are also active.

The geocache is hidden close to, but not within the church grounds. The road is a quiet one, and wide enough to park a car by the side of the road without causing undue disruption!
