Geocache Description:

This is our recurring meet-n-greet at the Mario's on 4th St. NW. We meet on the last Wednesday of each month from 5:30-7:30 pm. If you are a regular, you know the drill. If you are new or just passing through, come have some fun with local geocachers.

We have the room at the back and order off the menu so you can eat as much or as little as you want. They do not have a problem with separate checks.  Beer and wine are available and it's family friendly.  Please sign up by Monday, April 25th so we can give a head count to the restaurant.

Almost everyone who has geocached in and around New Mexico has heard of Forrest Fenn’s hidden treasure chest.  There are dozens of books, blogs, and websites devoted to the search.  While out caching along various mountain trails, Tocha and I have wondered if the treasure could be hidden nearby.  Since we had a little free time this winter, we devoted a month or so to reading Fenn’s books, analyzing his poem, listening to his interviews and pouring over all associated internet sites.  After an exhausting analysis and some creative out-of-the-box thinking, Tocha and I think we have stumbled upon some additional cryptic messages as to the treasure’s secret location.  See if you can decipher the hints we found and claim a SLICE of Fenn’s Treasure at the April SLICE event.

Here is the first clue we discovered.

We read where Forrest Fenn mentioned in an interview that the treasure was not in a graveyard.  However, while retrieving one of the many cemetery Spirit geocaches in the mountains of northern New Mexico we came across a headstone with an odd inscription.  It read:

e = End is the only part of the word that I heard. Call me morbid or absurd.

We definitely think this is a clue to the whereabouts of part of the treasure.  Do you agree?

We will post more of what we found throughout the month as announcements to this cache event.  Be sure and check back frequently.
