Geocache Description:

"I believe that adventure is about stretching yourself: mentally, physically or culturally. It is about doing what you do not normally do, pushing yourself hard and doing it to the best of your ability. If that is true then adventure is all around us, at all times. Adventure is accessible to normal people, in normal places, in short segments of time and without having to spend much money.

Adventure is only a state of mind."

Alastair Humphreys

#microadventure

What: A mid-week microadventure

When: 3rd May 2016 - 22:00 until sunrise

Where: On top of Mt Everard

Why: Because life is too short for boring

This event will send you on a little adventure - a microadventure. If you don't know what that is, watch the video below and remember the part about hiking up a hill.

Are you intrigued? Then log your will attend and come along for a mid-week adventure. Now you probably have a couple of questions which we tried to anticipate:

FAQs

Do I need to camp when I attend the event?
No. You can just meet up everyone on top of the hill and then go home but what would be the fun in that?

How fit do I have to be?
It's just a short walk of about 3 to 4 km one way. You don't have to rush so it isn't very hard.

What happens if it rains?
If severe conditions are expected like a thunderstorm, a high fire rating or a zombie outbreak, we will postpone the event. However a little bit of rain doesn't hurt and it is an adventure after all.

Will it be dark?
Absolutely. Sunset is at 17:30 and sunrise at 7:03.

What if I don't have the gear and what do I need anyway?
First of all ask - if you never did an overnight hike, this could be your chance. We prepared a short overview which gives you an idea about the things you might need. But since this is just a short trip, you don't have to go all out on gear. E.g. a tarp instead of a tent should be fine. Runners instead of boots can do the trick.

But I have to work the next morning!
Most of us have to! But unlike Alastaire you don't have to hop into the creek the next morning although "Dry Creek" won't be that dry. There are other options: Leave a change of cloths in the car and have a shower at work - most workplaces have quite good showers. We probably will hop into the sleeping-bag early, and therefore you will get enough sleep to get up early and do a quick pit-stop at home if you live in the northern suburbs.

You are still here? Good! Trust me - I can also think of a million reasons why this is a stupid idea! And this is why we are doing this and not hiding behind another excuse. Life is just too short for boring. Think about how big your smile will be on Wednesday morning.

Adventure is out there
