Earth Week CITO Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

tealeaf: No need to keep this open. You can still log it after the archive. Great turnout and wonderful to see us outnumbered by hard-working kids. Maybe we'll get a few converts to caching. Thanks to all the work the Open Space folks put in to these and Jim in particular for being our temporary contact. We should have a permanent Open Space contact to replace Erik by the time of the fall CITO which TheTechCacher will be our Geo-host. Big thanks to SandiaFamily for all the pics and Dominic for making it through the whole event. The snacks and prizes were much appreciated.

Geocache Description:

Join us Saturday along with the group from "Open Space" for some clean up of our public lands.  Open Space is very supportive of caching and this is a chance for us to give back. The 2/2 rating is an average; some trails are 1.5 others may be up to 3.5. You know your limits.

This weekend celebrates the 14th annual "Cache in Trash Out" for Groundspeak

The City's Open Space does not do a specific Earth Day event  but they do designate the weekends in April to concentrate on the foothills area cleanup. The starting point for this Saturday is at the parking area for the Piedra Lisa Open Space at the east end of Candelaria.

The time frame is from *** 8:30 am to 12:00 pm *** The city will have bags and buckets for us and a big truck at the end to haul away what we bring out. Yes, we will have the standard snacks . Bring your own water, gloves, sunscreen,  hat and wear appropriate clothing. No sandals.

Please sign up as soon as possible as we need to provide Jim  and his group a head count.  Most of you know that Erik has moved to New Zealand and we will miss his years of experience. Jim Sattler will be our contact for this and for the fall CITO.. We will meet at 8:15 for a mini meet n greet before we check in for our equipment and our clean up options.  Last year there was some planting, trail-building, graffiti removal as well as the usual trash and doggie "gifts".

As a bonus, participation in this event will earn you a 2016 CITO souvenir on your geocaching profile.

This particular area has limited parking so PLEASE CARPOOL!
