After the Harmony Day Breakfast event last year (GC5MKJV), a group of geocachers (dubbed the Breakfast Club) travelled on a winery and cache tour around Bungendore and Lake George. One of the most exciting geocaches for the day was 'Sandhills FM' (GCYB0Y), which I won't spoil, but was definately one of the highlights for the day. It was such a well constructed cache with a brilliant idea behind it, it brought a smile to all of our faces. Once we got to GZ, the cache was wet and full of water, so to thank the cache owner, we replaced the cache with a new and dry container. If you are ever driving around Bungendore on the way to Tarago, do yourself a favour and check out that cache!
So, what happened to the old container? Well, I ended up keeping it on behalf of the group and as it turns out, it seems that the cache is definately waterproof enough to be put back into action. So here we are! This cache container is the old container for Sandhills FM - there's no extra twist to this cache, it's simply a tribute to one of the local favourites! The cache is located along a lovely strip of trees at the edge of Narrabundah, where the multi cache 'Narrabundah Ramble' (GC61P7D) passes through, so it might be a good idea to get this cache while doing the multi. The cache has a few small swaps and a pen, but still, as geocachers should always do - BYOP!
FTF honours goes to sumbloke and Fox in Jox!
UPDATE: Unfortunately, the original filled up with water AGAIN, so the cache is now just a 1L sistema as a tribute to the Sandhills FM cache.
