This search will take you to a small bridge on a dead-end road. Amber's memorial is on it. Amber Lyn Smith was a Seguin resident who disappeared from her home during the night of January 29, 2006. (See "related web page.") Her murdered body was discovered two weeks later under this bridge. No suspect has ever been identified and the search is ongoing. There is no need to disturb her small tributes on the bridge.
This is a cache on a small road with dead-end markers blocking through-traffic. The bridge is in the middle and certainly not passable by auto. It is safe to walk on. An old iron cross is near one end of the bridge and Amber's memorial is on the bridge itself. The cache is nearby, and is meant to draw your attention to this sad event in history. It is NOT under the bridge, and no bushwhacking is required. Bring your own pen. IMPORTANT NOTE: The area is not lighted at night; we definitely recommend daylight searches only. Also there are often many trucks in the area as roadwork is an ongoing issue. So, this is an easier search in the summer or weekends before dark.
