Geocache Description:

Before I discovered geocaching, puzzles were already my thing. I do crossword puzzles (always in pen!) and Sudoku (in pen too) but my passion has always been logic problems. I figured I would try my hand at creating a logic problem and maybe hook one or two of you on my favorite type of puzzle!

FTF RACE

Recently a large group of geocachers were at a leap day event swapping stories and tips when dozens of cell phones began chiming notification alerts. Immediately a buzz swept through the room. A NEW CACHE HAS BEEN PUBLISHED!! AND IT’S JUST A FEW BLOCKS AWAY!!!With this new cache being so close, anyone here in the room has a chance at being the FTF signer! Chairs scooted, lap tops snapped shut and back packs were snatched off the floor. The FTF race had just begun!

The room immediately emptied as dozens of cachers headed down the sidewalk towards the GZ. Some running, some walking, some strolling along. The first wave of cachers arrived at the GZ. They buzzed around feverishly checking every nook and cranny in the area. “I found it!” shouted the FTF cacher as she scribbled her geocache name on the log. The next four finders signed the log too.

Just then, a local news team popped out of the bushes surprising the geocachers. They were doing a story on geocaching and had hidden then cache. They had been taping the group finding the cache and asked if they could interview the cachers. Wanting to help spread the word about geocaching, they happily obliged.

Each geocacher interviewed was one of the first 5 to sign the log. While being interviewed, each cacher revealed their favorite type of cache as well as what is their must-have item to bring geocaching. From the info provided, you must determine what order each geocacher signed the log, what their favorite type of geocache is and what is their must-have item to bring geocaching. After such an exciting day, they all hurried home to set their DVR’s to tape the news that night so they could watch themselves on TV!!

You will need to solve the puzzle to find the location of the geocache.

1.) The owner of the hot pink sharpie was the 5th cacher to sign the log. “ I have signed every one of my finds with this same pen”

2.) G.O. KTCHR always carries a bag of travel bugs. “You never know when you are going to find a travel bug in a cache and need one on hand to trade”

3.) The cacher who insists you must have the cellphone app said “I love traditional caches. My goal is to get as many caches as quickly as possible and traditionals are the fastest way to do that”

4.) GETmALL (who signed the log before the cacher who loves the cellphone app) told the news reporter “Earth caches are my favorite. I always learn so much at each one”

5.) SEEEKER does not enjoy event caches nor multi caches best.

6.) The FTF signer “loves event caches more than any other type of cache”.

7.) The cacher that must bring snacks while caching does not like multi caches best.

8.) LUV2FIND was the third cacher to sign the log.

9.) Multi caches and Puzzle caches are not LUV2FIND’s favorite type of cache.

10.) #1FINDER (who doesn’t use the hot pink sharpie) wasn’t the FTF signer.

Now use the order that each cacher signed the log that you solved in the puzzle to find the coordinates of the cache. It is located at N 45 AB.CDE W 122 FG.HJK.
