I am a recently recovered alcoholic- my husband Trail Crester has quit drinking with me as an amazing sign of support and solidarity. As part of our efforts to develop new habits and hobbies, we began Geocaching in earnest, and quickly realized we were completely obsessed with it! Geocaching has helped me to stay sober, active, and has rekindled my passion for exploring. To celebrate two months of sobriety, we decided to place our first cache close to home. This trail (Healdville Trail) heads up to the summit of Ludlow Mountain, where Okemo Resort leases their ski area. The hike brings you 1.5 miles up the backside. It's about 3 miles to the summit, if you want to hike the fire tower to take in an amazing view, but the cache is about half of the way up.
If you've ever watched the Lion King, you'll recognize this cache's resting spot as soon as you see it! I'm getting reports of coordinates being about 40 feet off, but you should be able to see it without wondering. Congrats to Hayred, Stewball and VTRoadrunner for FTF! Happy caching, and much love to all you awesome people.
