Geocache Description:

EPIC = Exploring Pender Island Caching

Much of Pender Island was logged many years ago with the use of springboards. The Wiliam Walker Trail takes you through a mature forest where the stumps of former giants are often marked by the notches of springboard loggers.

You will come upon a very large fir log that has fallen beside the trail. Its curving hulk creates a bit of a cave that can be reached while standing on the trail. Listen for the spirited trill of the Pacific wren as you carefully kneel down to make the find. Please be gentle with all plants. BYOP.
