Geocache Description:

Welcome to Edenvale School District No. 1723. This one-room school served the areas 5 miles east and west of the school and 4 miles north and south. A loan to purchase the land, school, and the furnishings was approved in the early 1900s for a total cost of $1200. The school and teacherage located just east of the school were built soon after. School started at 9:00 am except in the winter when class started at 9:30 am. School was dismissed at 3:30 pm.

Edenvale School was heated by a coal / wood heater located in the back of the room. As it did not have storm windows, the classroom was very cold in the winter. Fires were lit early in the morning by either the teacher or an older student to warm up the building before class. If the weather permitted, the younger children would come to school with their older siblings and stay the entire day. The school also featured two toilets located at the end of the yard. The paper was recycled from old Eaton catalogues. Edenvale's floor was hardwood which was excellent for dances.

The school hosted several dances and events throughout the school year. Edenvale was attended by generators of children including my grandfather Don Peterson. My great great grandfather Martin Peterson also was one of the school founding board members. The school is still standing today. It is located on private property. The landowner requests that you do not venture onto his land as he has a crop planted and for safety purposes.

To locate the final stage you will need to read the information plaque at ground zero. There are two numbers separated by a dash on the second line. The final is located at:
N 49° 31.0A A=1st Number - 1892
W 101° 49.B B=2nd Number - 1640
