Geocache Description:

It's that time of year and there is a big project that is under way. The 1.13 Mile stretch of Texas Rd from the Oklahoma border and down the length of Rutgers Rd has been TRASHED in recent years. It will take the efforts of volunteers to make it beautiful again. 4-16-16 at 10am to Noon, we will see what we can make happen!

This is going to be a big project. We will need everyone we can get from the walkers picking up the little bits to the muscle and pickup trucks hauling the big stuff. I will have a pickup but at least one more truck would be great. I will also be working to get in touch with the proper Pocola Officials to let them know what we are going to be up to on this stretch of Texas Road that has been often referred to as “No Man's Land”. It seems that it is only when the county comes out every several years that any attention is paid to it. Maybe if we show that we are stepping up we can get some kind of assistance (or at least a blessing) with the event.

Some of the large items include a TV box, a couple of mattresses, scrap wood, and even an old Toilet amid the usual garbage and more than enough other trash to make you raise an eyebrow.

The route will extend from a safe distance from the railroad tracks on Texas Road, around the Cemetery at the “Y” intersection of Rutgers and to the Motorcycle Club on Hwy 271. The entire length of the pickup will be 1.13 miles. Most of the route will be typical pickup and those looking to just fill a trash sack are more than welcome. If you are willing to assist on any level to help with the larger items, that would be great.

For the expense of heading to the city dump, we encourage, but of course keep it 100% optional, to donate $1 to that cause. THIS IS STRICKLY OPTIONAL as per the Geocaching rules.

The event will start at 10am on April 16. We will park at and meet at Stagecoach Park by the Basketball Court, where we will coordinate and split up from there into pairs to cleanup the various parts of the route. I have a picture loaded into the gallery showing the route and places we can park while picking up in the immediate area) There will be water and trash bags available, but anything you can bring to help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you so much for considering this event! I hope this will be a success and get the word out about the kind of things we can do when we get together!

Happy Caching!!!
