The Yellow Eyed Penguin is one of the smaller penguins. It is approximately 55cm tall and weigs about 5-6kg. It is one of the worlds rarest penguins with only about 1,500 breeding pairs. It lives primarily on the southern coast of New Zealand, and as far south as Campbell Island in the Antarctic.
You can walk along the main trail between each cache. Once you find the cache, write down the numbers located inside the top of the cache, or on top of the log sheet. You will need these numbers to figure out the final for the King Penguin mystery cache. The cache is a lock/lock container holding a log.
The forest has signs of wildlife including deer, wild turkey, coyote, various other small buirds and animals. There is a "No Hunting" sign at the main gate, but please use caution just in case.
