Geocache Description:

At the junction of Broad Street and the Abbey Grounds

Broad Street is the hub of Pershore where the High Street and Bridge Street meet and is unusually wide because, until 1836, there were houses and a shambles in the centre - that area is now free parking, if you can find a space. On the south-east corner of the street is the Royal Arcade, formerly The Royal Three Tuns Hotel, visited in 1830 by Princess (later Queen) Victoria and her mother the Duchess of Kent. This building and a pair facing Broad Street on the High street retain ornate ironwork balconies of the Regency Period.

The street itself has several Georgian houses, some with Venetian and Palladian style windows, although unsympathetic modern building has intruded and it does not present as homogenous a Georgian look as neighbouring Bridge Street.

The street is occasionally use for markets and for activities associated with the annual Plum Fair, an excuse for locals to festoon the town with purple in homage to the Pershore's plum growing tradition. Indeed this connection and the great use made of the Great Western Railway to transport the plum crop led to the GWR naming an engine, Bulldog Class 4-4-0, No. 3353, 'Pershore Plum' -  it made a change from all the Castles, Manors, Halls, Granges, Abbeys, Saints and Kings that were their staple naming source.

The cache is located just inside the park opposite the end of Broad Street where its offshoot, Church Row meets the Abbey Grounds. You are looking for a silver magnetic tube. It is located a short distance from the footpath. This is an area with a high volume of muggle activity and they creep up on you unawares - in an ideal world they would be made to wear bells around their necks.

You will need a pen and possibly tweezers.
