Back in the old days, there were no restrictions against vacation caches, and I think all the geocaches in the Waikiki area were Virtual caches at the time. I left a traditional physical container in a spot (originally at N 21° 16.574 W 157° 49.102) with a good view of the rowers going up and down the canal. In 2003, thequeenbee graciously offered to steward this cache for me. She picked out a better hiding spot (N 21° 16.611 W 157° 49.146) in May 2005 after the old spot became no longer viable, and she has probably checked on it over a hundred times over the years, keeping the log fresh and checking out the various DNFs, comments, and complaints that are inevitable with a cache located in a place with such an ongoing crush of tourists from all over the world. In June 2024, thequeenbee noticed that the new host had deteriorated significantly and decided that it was time to move the cache back to its original location, but that spot is too close to a newer cache; so now the cache is in the parking area of the canoe club (which is especially busy in the afternoon when they are practicing). Every time somebody logs this cache, it brings smiles of memories of the past and reminds me that I have to get back here to visit this island again soon.
