The loop starts in Shaldon and follows the estuary into Ringmore. It climbs onto the hills around the villages and affords some lovely views. The walk is about 4 ½ miles long and starts off flat with proper paths around the villages, but gets steep and very muddy at times when following the green lanes and the coastal path. Walking boots are highly recommended and wellies may be even better if there has been heavy rain recently. The loop contains a range of different containers, please be careful around Shaldon as this is an area with a great deal of footfall and there are plenty of prying eyes!
The first in the series is located near to the bowling green and is an area that used to be used by the local fisherman to tend to their nets. Today, the green provides one of several focal points for Shaldon. The site is in the vicinity of the village war memorial, so please show the monument the respect that it deserves. If you're lucky, the locals will be playing a bowls match, Shaldon play in shirts with burgundy sleeves.
