Geocache Description:

The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.

I was continuing my field test of a new cemetery-locating app when I bumbled across this site and was surprised to find that a) the app had no clue about its existence and b) there was not already a cache here. I have remedied the latter lapse. There are well over 500 interments here, ranging from 1880 to at least 2015. Members of the Baldridge, Blancett / Blanchett, Campbell, Davis, Dodd, Dueser, Duncan, Dunham, Frierson, Garner, Laffere, Leonard, Lindhorst, Maddox, Massey, McQueen, Mitcham, Petty, Reichert, Rinn, Swanzey, Voyles, and Williams families, among many others, have been laid to rest here. While apparently predominantly Anglo in composition, the number of decedents includes people from German and Hispanic heritages as well, which isn't always typical in Central Texas.

As of the time of placement, the site was very well-maintained. Safe parking is ample. As is always the case, corrections to the listed coordinates are appreciated.
