Passing in the wind Traditional Cache
afrayed: Bored of replacing the container and couldn't find anywhere suitable nearby to re-hide the cache, so unfortunately I'm having to retire this one.

The cache is located near the historic and imposing St. John's Gate. However, the cache is closer to the slightly less salubrious Passing Alley - a hidden gem in London's murky past. Swapping the first "a" for an "i" reveals the original name of this inauspicious cut-through.
In days gone by, Passing Alley was one of the numerous open public conveniences in the city. There were literally dozens of them about London, all inaugurated and so named due to the constant procession of people rushing to visit their walls. With the exception of this single corruption, all have now either disappeared or have had their names changed beyond association.
The cache is not located in the alley itself, but is several metres to the left of the St. John's Lane entrance (somewhere between the alley and St. John's Gate). Although you don't need to venture down the alley to find the cache, I'd recommend taking a quick look.
The narrow entrance is surrounded by an arch of white plaster with "Passing Alley" engraved above it. What lies beyond this easily overlooked opening is a claustrophobic and almost otherworldly environment - you feel completely cut off from the rest of the city. And then it's all over in a flash as you come out the other side, but those fleeting seconds are still enjoyable.
Stealth required, especially during lunchtime and commuting hours.
Please return the cache to exactly where you found it, and don't forget to bring a pen!
Congratulations to -KROP- for the extremely speedy FTF.
