The Toxic Avenger Traditional Cache

This cache is part of my “movie-inspired caches” and continuing my tradition of honoring films shot in NJ and or based in NJ.  Growing up in NJ, we are all used to the jokes about our state being one big toxic dump.  The classic horror/comedy cult film, “The Toxic Avenger” had fun with NJ’s (false) reputation.   This cache celebrates this American low budget B-movie.  Quiet on the Set...Roll GPS...Roll Smartphone...ACTION!

THE TOXIC AVENGER  (1984): The Toxic Avenger is a 1984 American superhero horror comedy film directed by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman (credited as Samuel Weil) and written by Kaufman and Joe Ritter. The cult film was released by Troma Entertainment, known for producing low budget B-movies with campy concepts and gruesome violence. The Toxic Avenger is born when mop boy Melvin Junko falls into a vat of toxic waste. Now evildoers will have a lot to lose and Tromaville, NJ (Fictional city) has a monstrous new hero.  Several scenes were shot all around NJ, towns include - Boonton, Rutherford, Jersey City, Harrison and Riverview Park.

The cache is an ammo can hidden off a public walking trail close to a Corporate Business Park.  Beware of muggles walking their dogs and for a parade of muggles working off their lunch.  The cache contains a log book, swag and is starting off with a TB that wants to continue on its journey.
