A short part of the trail is boardwalk and another sugar sand. At least half of the trek is through a cow pasture. Make sure you close all gates behind you.
You might get up close to cattle and you will have to dodge their pies. Wildlife sightings (water birds, turkey, deer, maybe alligator) are nearly always guaranteed. If you don't encounter any, you are either really unlucky or too noisy.
Daylight hours only. The sign at the parking area that says it closes at 5pm but I met the ranger who told me that he leaves the gate open and after hour visits are OK.
Horses can not enter at the posted waypoint for the trail head. You will have to ride to GZ from one of the horse access points at Lake Frances or from the one at the end of Tyler Run Rd.
