In December 2015 the town of Tadcaster was hit by flooding on an previously unseen scale, with the river Wharfe bursting it's banks and devastating the centre of this historic market town, shops were flooded, homes were flooded and as if that wasn't bad enough the 300 year old road bridge that connected the east and west sides of the town crumbled and partially fell into the river below, effectively cutting the town in half.
After much discussion with all affected parties it was agreed to reconnect the town by means of a foot bridge ,this was opened on the 12th of February 2016.
The main bridge will take an estimated year to repair at a so far predicted cost of over three million pounds.
You can view the re-construction work taking place on the old bridge by crossing the road on the west side of Tadcaster and walking along the riverbank, use the 'viewing' waypoint to guide you futher.
The Cache!
There is no cache, nope, it's gone, so has the bridge that it was hidden on, if you are thinking of going for an archived cache, pick another, you'll only end up floating in the River Wharfe if you come looking here, it's definitely gone.
This was a small cache that I placed to mark the position of the bridge, you could have got a smiley that's floating in the river without getting your feet wet ! ;)
You needed to be stealthy as it was muggle central at times.
Congrats and big hats go to Hommer777 on their FTF
If you had previously found the cache you can add a badge to your profile if you dodged the muggles and claimed the prize !
