For those that remember, this cache site overlooks the former Red Lion public house in Chellaston. The pub closed many years ago and after a period of indecision the site was redeveloped, primarily for housing. The echoes of the pub remain however, with the name of the adjacent bus stop.
Chellaston is a thriving suburb of Derby, famous in times gone by for the production of alabaster and gypsum. It also went on to have a brickworks which used the clay extracted during the mining of the alabaster. Long since gone but some traces are visible and there are a number of ofther caches in the area taking you to some of the locations involved.
This is a nice easy cache and dash, but please be considerate with where you park as the road may be busy at times and pets and children should be kept in hand.
The cache contains a log only - please bring tweezers and a pencil
