5 Years Of Caching (Maldon TB Hotel) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

nathanjhunt: Oh dear... I came to check on this cache, but I did not find it where expected. The area is a lot more exposed now, and people certainly come down here more often than I thought (remember the "brown" incident...?)

I found a couple swappable items at the tree, and making my way further afield, I discovered the open container laying in a clearing, along with the lid slightly further away.

Two and a half years isn't too bad, but this one's at the end of its life. Thanks to all the visitors. New cache coming soon...

Geocache Description:

The 8th May 2016 marks my 5th year geocaching.

I was 16 on the 8th May 2011, the day before my birthday. My sister and brother-in-law rushed over to my house to tell me about this amazing treasure hunting game called "geocaching". I had never heard of it before, but they planned to go out in Hastings with their friends to find a few. I got my mum to give me a lift to my sister's friend's house to meet her there. She told me that at the top of the road, there is a cache hidden behind the sign (http://coord.info/GC2M9C5). We stopped the car there, and I peared behind the sign to find a film canister. I opened it up, and found a piece of paper to sign. This was it. My first cache! After heading down to the house, a group of us then walked up and down the roads to reach a small woodland in the middle of the town. After eventually finding the entrance, we then started to search for the container (http://coord.info/GC2R3EQ). It was found, and inside the small container were swapable items that had been made my hand only. On the way back to the house, we stopped off at a third cache, and found it hooked on a fence rung, undernearth the ivy (http://coord.info/GC2E38Y). Later that evening, me and my sister headed out on two seperate ocassions to try and find a 4th geocache at the local supermarket (http://coord.info/GC2J9W7).

So there we have it, my first geocaching experience. Along with logging your visit, I invite everyone to share your first geocache experience in the comments. Pictures are more than welcome.

Inside the container are three trackable items. One each for the first to find, second to find, and third to find. The cache is placed along the gorgeous Chelmer And Blackwater Navigation. Enjoy the cache - I can't wait to hear your stories.
