This is a sneaky geocache and will require a Wee bit of hunting. The area is reasonably muggle free but there may be passers by. Nice bench to sit by and parking at the local health centre or leisure centre/ library area. "Works Corner" cache is close by too as is "Alcan Dan" - why not try to get a Shotts hat trick? Shotts railway station is about half a mile away. Great if cycling in the area.
The Backshift is a sculpture commissioned by "Shape Up Shotts" to commemorate the iron works and mining industries synonymous with the town of Shotts (Shotts officially got Town Status in 2016). It was designed and fabricated by P. Johnson and Co and depicts the tools left at the end of the working day. The sculpture was unveiled on 28.03.15 by former miners William Hamilton and Dougal Bryce. It is located in the Stane Gardens regeneration project.
