We are starting this cache up again. The original Cowboy Up was archived in 2012. It was GC107A2.
This is a realtively easy cache that can be accessed from the road with very little walking. Coordinates should be pretty close but the hint should help also. The cache is a 2 quart camo rubbermaid container.
The Tyler Blount Memorial Foundation was established in June of 2000, after the death of Tyler Blount as the result of a rodeo accident during the Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association Finals. Tyler truly loved the sport of rodeo and grew up competing in many youth events throughout the state. Youth rodeo has been good to the Blount family and we have received great support and comfort from our community and the rodeo family since Tyler's death. The Blounts have been blessed with the ability through this foundation to make a donation to the City of Guthrie in 2004, of a new rodeo arena. This arena will greatly benefit the area youth rodeo programs, the area 4-H clubs, Guthrie and Logan County as a first class facility to hold equestrian and rodeo events. Over $500,000 has been invested to date an we anticipate that by completion, the improvements will exceed $1,000,000. This is all being done with selflessly given time and donations.
THE NSPS GEOCACHING PROJECT
Breaking the boundaries between surveying and geocaching!
Geocachers use GPS to find and set things that are not obvious to the eye. Land surveyors also use GPS (among lots of other cool and expensive toys) to find and set things that are not obvious to the eye. Geocachers try to get the best GPS accuracy possible; surveyors use GPS equipment with accuracy that boggles the mind. Geocachers may look for bench marks, whereas surveyors often set bench marks. The two activities have many similarities.
Through the NSPS Geocaching Project, the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), will be setting geocaches across the United States. Each state surveying organization sponsors their own geocaches. Each geocache under this project promotes three topics. The first is, of course, the geocache itself, thereby promoting the sport of geocaching, the Geocaching.com website and environmental responsibility. The second topic is the site where the geocache is placed; choose spectacular sites that relate in some way to surveying and tell the world about it. The third topic is the promotion of surveying as a viable career choice. This is the main purpose of the NSPS Geocaching Project. A good geocache should promote all three topics.
