This is the junction of the scenic Pacific Northwest Trail (PNT) with the main road in the Harry Osborne State Forest on Mount Josephine.
This is the first geocache in a series of 7 to the top of Mount Josephine on the PNT. The first two geocaches can be accessed by car. The rest of the geocaches are in areas off limit to motorized vehicles.
To the west and down-hill the PNT continues towards and over Lyman hill. The summit of Josephine Mountain, the rest of the series and lookout site are uphill. Follow the brown PNT guide posts at intersections to get to J-PNT 2
The 1200 mile long distance Pacific Northwest Trail runs from the Continental divide to the Pacific Ocean. It starts in Glacier National Park in Montana and ends near Cape Alava in Washington State. For more information about about the PNT see this website

Snow can linger until late spring on Mount Josephine.
For example: 2016 (winter with average snow fall)
- snow starting at 2200 feet early March
- snow starting at 3200 feet April 9
Beware, there could be active logging and machinery and logging trucks driving around these roads during the week. The lookout may not always be accessible.
To get to this series of 7 caches take Medford road into the Harry Osborne State Forest and follow dirt roads up the hill.
There are 40 miles of trails in this DNR forest. The Backcountry Horsemen of Washington work very hard to maintain the trails.
