Geocache Description:

This one was moved from its original location on 4/10/16 due to death by deterioration of its hiding spot.

Welcome to the Fruitie Tootie Series. Each of the seven base caches in this series contains a number which you will need to solve the Grandaddy Fruitie Tootie Series Finale. Be sure to write the number down at each one.

All are intended to be very findable caches. Enjoy!!!

And now . . . a little bit about this specific cache you will be finding.

There are about 3000 known varieties of this fruit grown worldwide. In the United States only 10 varieties are widely recognized.

They have no cholesterol, sodium, or saturated fat. They offer a natural, quick source of energy, due largely to high amounts of two monosacharides: fructose and glucose, plus Levulose, the sweetest of known natural sugars, found to a greater extent in this fruit, when fresh, than in any other fruit. This fruit is a nutrient dense food, providing more nutrients per calorie, than calories per nutrient.

Most are cold-hardy, withstanding temperatures between -25 °C and -40 °C in winter, except for the evergreen species, which only tolerate temperatures down to about -15 °C.

This fruit is native to coastal and mildly temperate regions of the Old World, from western Europe and north Africa east right across Asia. They grow on medium-sized trees, reaching 10–17 m tall, often with a tall, narrow crown; a few species are shrubby.

Recommended parking is at N 43 53.852 W 091 14.488. However, the road construction in 2016 may make this parking area temporarily inaccessible. The other obvious way to access the cache is via the nearby bike trail.

Note: If you do bike to the cache, a trail fee is required. (There's never a fee for pedestrians, though.)
