The orginal St. George's Anglican Chuch was built in 1847, with its first service held on January 1, 1848. It was replaced by the current beautiful stone structure in 1908. Men from the church gathered stones from nearby fields to help keep the building cost down. The church's gothic design was based on the style of J.A Ellis, a Toronto architect, and the tower was designed by Gerald Hayward. The bell in the tower was donated by St. Peter's Church in Cobourg.
