Geocache Description:

Venture to this cache to see how the Black River has eroded the surrounding terrain through the years. Come and swap a book, or just sign the log and enjoy the views!

Library in the Woods was designed as a cache for folks to swap books. Bring a book that you recently finished and swap it with one in the container. Please do not take a book if you do not have one to replace it with! If a book in the cache doesn't tickle your fancy, drop one off and check back later. The container is a large ammo can, which should permit the accumulation of 7 to 10 books, depending on the size. To combat the elements, about 10x gallon sized zip lock bags have been placed in the cache to put your books in. If able, bring your book already wrapped in a bag so it doesn't absorb moisture and mildew. We will do our best to keep it stocked with bags.

This cache will lead you down a well maintained trail, emplaced by Fort Drum to allow public fishing access to the Black River. The first few hundred meters will be a relatively level dirt path, and the last 30 meters or so will require some climbing (no gear required, just sturdy footwear). As you walk down the path, occasionally walk south through the edge of the woods, and you will find yourself atop a 20-30' cliff overlooking the Black River with some pretty outstanding views.

With the bags, this cache has been stocked with a small memo pad for a log, a pen, and a copy of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes (Volume 1), and a kids book with a bunch of cheesy, hilarious jokes. The idea is that the cache will have at least one adult book, and one childrens book for swapping.

Congrats to Groundhog25 for the FTF!
