One part of a series of Eagle Scout related geocaches. This Eagle Scout project was made by Noah Pippen from Troop 302 in 2014. This project included several plant identifying placards along the well-known blue trail. Unfortunately, only days after finishing the project many of the placards were vandalized. Only a few, most of which you will pass on your way to the cache, are all that remains. On your way to the cache, you will also pass a youth campsite which includes a fire pit and benches, both of which were made by Eagle Scout Walter Cook from Troop 457 in 2014.
An excerpt from the Boy Scout Merit Badge Website. “The Eagle Scout Rank is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scout program of the Boy Scouts of America. Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout Rank has been earned by more than 2 million young men. The title of "Eagle Scout" is held for life, thus giving rise to the phrase "Once an Eagle, always an Eagle".
Requirements include earning a number of merit badges and demonstrating Scout spirit, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes the accomplishments of the Scout.”
