This bridge is a replacement for an old logging bridge that was lost in the 1960s. As you can see, the new bridge makes use of the original concrete pillar, blending modern park use with history.
The shortest route to the cache is by parking at the North Beach parking lot, and following the East Canyon trail. After about 5 kms on the easy-grade trail, you'll reach the bridge. If you keep going, another 7 kms will have you travel the West Canyon trail south to the West Canyon parking lot, a few minutes from where you've parked your car.
The geocache is located a short distance west of the bridge, as to not conflict with caches on the East Canyon Trail.
You're looking for a regular-size Lock&Lock container, one step south of the trail.
The West Canyon trail starts off smooth, but becomes a lot rougher at about 3 kilometers in. The T2 rating is for the East Canyon trail. If you take the West Canyon, the Terrain Rating becomes about 3.5
The West Canyon Trail offers a spectacular view of Gold Creek, and the new bridge in the distance, from the Gold Creek Lookout, about 4 kilometers in from the West Canyon parking lot.
Enjoy your hike, and please be safe. Despite the improved access, this is still back country travel with its inherent risks, including slips and falls, and wildlife such as bears and cougars. Also make sure to bring enough drinking water.
