Papa’aloa is a town rich in sugarcane history. I have been told the reasons for the demise of the sugarcane was caused by the EPA’s strict recycled water regulations. Lots of fresh and salt water were used for transporting and processing the cane and then dumped into the ocean. The costs to filter the water would have been astronomical!
The building you may enter is an old sugarcane processing plant and there are some old pictures on the north wall of what it looked like in it’s production days . You will be looking for a medium sized Tupperware container in the garden area. While touring the building ask for Sol or Galahad, they would be happy to give you more info on the towns history.
