CLT#22- Hang On Sloopy Traditional Cache

Just how did Sloopy become a buckeye. Well the popular song "My Girl Sloopy",was recorded in 1964 by The Vibrations and was remade by the McCoys a year later as "Hang On Sloopy." Then student, John Tatgenhorst was given the job of arranging popular music for marching bands. Now "The Best Damn Band In The Land" plays it at the start of every 4th quarter. It's so popular that even many of the Ohio sports teams play it at games, prompting the crowd to chant O-H-I-O!!!! It became the official state rock song in 1985.
