Lastniki gradu so bili vitezi Jeterbenški oz. Hertenberški. Ti so bili ministeriali koroških vojvod Spanheimov. Do leta 1375 so bili Jeterbenški vitezi še zelo dejavni.
Z pomocjo volov so dvigovali kotel.
On Jetrbenk stands now a cross but before it, there was a fortress. The fortress was probably consisting from three parts: the old and the new Jetrbenk and the watchtower Nebojce. Fortress Jeterbenk probably got its name from two words: “Hart” and “Berg”. Owners of the fortress were the Jeterbenk’s knights or Hertenberg’s knights. They had the position of housekeepers for the Carinthia dukes Spanheim. The knights were famous for their raids in the local area and they also attacked their noble neighbours. The knights were ruthless and rough-handled the farmers. The fortress and the watchtower were sold in year 1344 to Sperenberg-Rajhenburg’s knights for 100 ogleian mark. Until 1375 were the Jetrbenk’s knights still active. After that, the history lost trail of them, but probably the family died out because of lack of a man descendant. But we can still claim that the family was important in her area, although we can follow their path only trough 170 years of history. Also the destruction of the fortress is a mystery, maybe the earthquake in 1511 devastated it or maybe Rodolf Habsburg. The descendants of Jetrbenk’s knights Jakob and Marjeta Hertenberch probably than built the church st. Marjeta and the church st. Jakob on Petelinc.
There is also an old legend about the treasure of Jetrbenk’s knights:
When Marjeta Hertenberch wanted to build the church of st. Marjeta, she somehow heard that there is a treasure form her ancestors under the old Jetrbenk fortress. She found a big pot with fortune. Because she couldn’t lift it by herself she called the blacksmiths to make strong and long chains to lift the treasure. With the help of oxen they began to lift it. When the people, helping to lift the treasure, saw the amount of gold they wanted to get the half. In affect, the chain broke, because of their thoughts, but fortunately there were two chains. Marjeta Hertenberg wanted to give the money for the church but when she saw the gold, she also wanted to keep the half for herself. Because of that, the second chain also broke and the whole treasure fell down again into the depths and got covered with stones and rocks. The treasure was never found again, and probably lies there till today.
