Geocache Description:

St.Giles, Netherwitton



Netherwitton, meaning the lower woods, is a little village north west of Morpeth and away from the main roads through the area.

It's jewel of a church, St. Giles's, dates from the 15th century when Roger Thornton, Mayor of Newcatle, bought the village.

Cromwell's army camped there in August 1651 after beating the Scots at the Battle of Dunbar.

Please don't attempt this cache after dark as there is a house at the entrance to the church and they might be worried by any suspicious behaviour. That's also why I've chosen to make this a multi-cache. The final is within half a mile.
