Congratulations on a full 18 cache series joint FTF to the inimitable pairing of Bessieboots and WFG !
Stoney Hill was always one of those warm stone, sunny day, bees buzzing hamlets which bred more than its fair share of eccentrics and as you look around you will still see signs of that individuality of spirit :).
For the route onward to No OSG06 look for the roadway just down on the left from the house with Budda, indicating DO NOT USE SATNAV....VAN DRIVERS DO NOT COME DOWN YOU WILL GET STUCK. Follow that gravelly road down then straight up again in an easterly direction past Honey Hole Farm and then follow the path up to the left behind the newly modernised house with the nice gardens, skirting the upper side of the coppice of trees on the hill --- this section is very boggy so beware :) Cross the field after the coppice ends and rise via the footbridge then around the side of the farm to the tarmaced Sowclough Road. This is the shortest route to OSG06 but heavy going :(
This series is a self indulgence as it takes a trail around my old stamping grounds as a child. As I was born and bred in Stacksteads walking this route brought back lots of happy memories for me. I hope you have a pleasant time hunting and admiring the views as you go. None of these caches are particularly difficult, so they would be ideal for a family hunt. The only essential equipment needed will be a pen :) The route is approximately 5 miles long and should take 2 – 3 hours. There are no particularly steep climbs, but the paths are boggy in places so wellingtons or boots are advisable.
