Congratulations on a full 18 cache series joint FTF to the inimitable pairing of Bessieboots and WFG !
Springhill always had the air of housing for the "better off"..... but we didn't care because the thing that drew us there was the streams and two lodges which the Springhill Villas backed on to :). Rope swings, fishing, winter skating on ice.... we were never short of things to do there :) . Pop your head in and have a look behind the large slabs of Haslingden Flag as you move on from this GZ to the next at Nun Hills, the fish are easily visible in the water of the lodge nearest the houses.
Direction hint to OSG14 : From here down the hill, then down the stone steps, left at the bottom, once you find the footpath rising to your left at the end of the old factory building, follow it up.
This series is a self indulgence as it takes a trail around my old stamping grounds as a child. As I was born and bred in Stacksteads walking this route brought back lots of happy memories for me. I hope you have a pleasant time hunting and admiring the views as you go. None of these caches are particularly difficult, so they would be ideal for a family hunt. The only essential equipment needed will be a pen :) The route is approximately 5 miles long and should take 2 – 3 hours. There are no particularly steep climbs, but the paths are boggy in places so wellingtons or boots are advisable.
