OSG14 Old Stamping Ground : Nun Hills Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

StriderGeo: Change is as good as a rest they say - my caches/routes have been up for years, so I have decided to archive most if not all - leaving the land open to others - although I may lay down some new caches myself later this year, if no one gets there first :)

Regards

Paul / StriderGeo

Congratulations on a full 18 cache series joint FTF to the inimitable pairing of Bessieboots and WFG !

Nun Hills or "The Knowl" as we called it was always the site of our bonfire .... on a hill at the time devoid of trees we kept guard over our rising pile of wood ( so no-one could rob us ;) ). From here we could see all over Stacksteads and anyone approaching was clearly visible. When the great day eventually came family and friends as well as the residents from nearby Brandwood all gathered for the bonfire. I recall rockets shooting out over the church down in the valley, treacle parkin and potatoes in tin foil ( baked or partbaked - even with a mouthful of charcoal they tasted heavenly :)

Direction hint to OSG15 : Through the gate, left up the hill , right at the road, across the front of the houses and down to Brandwood Rd.

This series is a self indulgence as it takes a trail around my old stamping grounds as a child. As I was born and bred in Stacksteads walking this route brought back lots of happy memories for me. I hope you have a pleasant time hunting and admiring the views as you go. None of these caches are particularly difficult, so they would be ideal for a family hunt. The only essential equipment needed will be a pen :) The route is approximately 5 miles long and should take 2 – 3 hours. There are no particularly steep climbs, but the paths are boggy in places so wellingtons or boots are advisable.
