Geocache Description:

I discovered this little area after changing jobs and exploring this area in my hunt for caches.  Today I was out for other reasons and decided I would stop by to see if it might be a good place for hiding a cache.  As it happens, during my time here, three separate trains passed by...so I thought it was a cool place to bring people.

The final container is a micro with room for a log sheet only, so bring your own writing utensil.

This is a two-stage multi located near a retail and civic center of Smyrna, Georgia.  The posted coordinates are located adjacent to the Smyrna Museum. Here you will see a historical marker, summarizing the battle that occured in this area in 1864. The text of the marker reads as follows:

July 3, 1864. Gen. J. E. Johnston’s army [CSA] withdrew from Kennesaw Mtn. & occupied a double line of field-works which crossed the R. R. at old Smyrna Camp Ground, facing N. W. Loring’s A. C. was on the rt. (N. E. of R. R.); Hardee’s, at center; Hood’s on left, near Ruff’s Mill, Nickajack Cr.

July 4. The 4th A. C. [USA], (E. of R. R.), attacked the Confederate right to ascertain strength of the position; it was found impregnable. A similar attack on the left near Ruff’s Mill was alike ineffective. Being outflanked, Johnston withdrew to his River Line that night.

July 6. The 23d A. C. [USA], moving from Ruff’s Mill to Soap Creek, camped just E. of the R. R.

When facing the museum building, you will see a number also appears at the bottom left corner of the plaque in this format:  ABC-DE

Now, it's possible that there may be some way I don't know about to discover the above information without going to the posted coordinates...so for that reason I'm adding one more bit of information for you to gather.  Walking several paces roughly east, you will see a post with a solar panel on top and a small box mounted about chest-high.  On this box is a yellow label with an 11-digit number.  These numbers correspond to the following: FGHIJKLMNOP

Use these numbers to determine the final coordinates at N33° 53.QRS W84° 30.TUV

North:

Q = K - (F + A)

R = N - P

S = J + N

West:

T = M + P

U = (K + D) - (B + F)

V = F + (G - A)

Please take care when removing and replacing the cache when you find it.  I almost lost it when first hiding it, so I rigged up something to make it easier for the next person.  Please replace it where and how you find it.
