About the Allenwood Train Station
Not much is known about the Allenwood Train Station, because this was a small farming town and the train line was not a main line to North Jersey cities nor to NYC or Philadelphia. But when you stop and look at this area today, it feels like you've traveled back in time 60 or 70 years -- this small section of Wall Twp. seems as quaint as it did in 1940 or 1950! This station and railway were once part of the Freehold and Jamesburg Agricultural Railroad, which was acquired by the Pennsylvania RR in 1879. From the 1870s through the 1920s, over six train a day, both passenger and freight, passed this way. By 1965, the tracks between Manasquan and Farmingdale were removed.

About the Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway
The Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway is a 5.3 mile rail-trail in Monmouth County, NJ between Allaire State Park in Wall and the oceanfront town of Manasquan. While the trail does not go all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, it gets you to within 2 miles -- pretty close! The trail was constructed on a former roadbed of the Farmingdale & Squan Village and Freehold & Jamesburg Agricultural Railroad railroads. In 2006, the trail became the first dedicated segment of the 55-mile Capital To Coast multi-use trail that will span Central Jersey from Trenton to Manasquan.
