Balata is maintained reserve in northeastern Bulgaria . It is situated on the Black Sea coast near the village of. Obrochishte ,Municipality Balchik , Dobrich .
It was declared on 20.04.1978, the re-categorization of maintained reserve took place on 15 October 1999.
The reserve covers the northernmost situated dense forest in Bulgaria, at the mouth of the river Batovska . The river springs from Frangensko plateau under the name Dzhevizliyska river. Runs north and at the village Batovo turns to the East, into the Black Sea between Varna and Balchik. Forms of karst springs. It is the only inexhaustible river in Dobrudzha region. Balata is located near the resort of Albena.
