The landowners have planted many nut trees as part of a DNR program to restore the big woods in Minnesota. Becoming good stewards of the land is commendable.
An unintended consequence of the nut tree forest is a steady increase in the squirrel population. Sadly, watching a certain Chevy Chase movie has given one of the landowner’s a feeling of uneasiness around squirrels. My heart pounds just thinking of that squirrel springing out of the Christmas tree!
My geocaching friends, I beg you; the woods are filled with these annoying and unpredictable creatures. Use caution!
