Princess Leia is one of the main characters in the Star Wars series. She is born 18 years before the Battle at Yavin 4 (or 18BBY4 in Star Wars terms) to Padme Amadalia. Her father is Anakin Skywalker, but he is turned to the dark side before she was born. Padme died after giving birth to her and Luke Skywalker. She is taken in to be cared for by Bail Prestor Organa. She becomes part of the Rebelion at age 16 as Senator of Alderaon. She becomes a diplomatic leader during his time.
In 0BBY, her ship is taken by a star destoryer used by the Empire. Her ship had the plans to destory the Death Star, which are handed over to R2-D2. She is tortured because she won't disclose where the plans are. A little bit later she is rescued by Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. They escape in time to save Yavin 4 from destruction. Years later (2ABY) she is on Hoth being protected from the Empire. The Empire finds out and sends an army to get her. Again, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Luke Skywaler save her. Luke goes to a different planet to complete his Jedi training and the rest go to Cloud City, where Han's friend lives, but the Empire is their also. Luke comes back in time to save Leia and Chewie, suffering from having his hand cut off and finding out that Darth Vader is his father. Han is now being sold to Jabba the Hut.
Leia sets off to save Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt, disguising herself as a bounty hunter. She sneaks into Jabba's palace, only to be caught and becoming Jabba's slave. Luke comes in to save the day, only after almost being killed by the sarlac pit. Leia, Luke, and Han now join the rest of the Rebel army in trying to defeat the Empire by destroying the Death Star II. They are sent to a moon with creatures called Ewoks that almost eat them alive. She realizes that Luke is her brother and Vadar her father. Luke surrenders himself to the Empire to kill off the Emperor and Vader. Han, Leia and Chewie lead a rebel army to destroy a shield generator. When they succeed, the Death Star II is destroyed.
In the years before Star Wars VII, Han and Leia have a son, who has Jedia powers. He turns evil, causing Han to leave the family and Leia by herself. Now watch Star War VII to find out the rest of the story.
