Welcome to Saskatoon's oldest park! One thing about some of these caches, we get to find the roots of the city!
J.H. Holmes came to Saskatoon in 1904 and eventually teamed up with John Ashworth in the real estate business. They put down a five hundred dollar down-payment on a quarter section of land between Idylwyld and Avenue H from 22nd to 29th Streets. After subdividing the quarter they sold it. They eventually donated 10 acres to the town in 1907 for a park that now bears their name. In this park, you find the Mayfair Bowling Club, a playground, tennis/basketball courts and lots of open areas for frisbee, football, and picnics.
In the summer, the community also hosts Art in the Park for a day. Then wow, look at all the people!
It is a park, so muggles can come from every direction!
