Geocache Description:

Formonthills is a young woodland with lots to offer.  A total of 80,000 trees have been planted with the help of the local community, with wildflower meadows, wetland areas, abundant wildlife, several circular walks, and a commanding position offering spectacular views.  Don't forget to look out for sculptures along the way.  A mix of hard path and grass tracks take you on an exploration of this hillside with excellent views.

The deep blue flower spikes of Bugle can be found carpeting damp grasslands, scrub and woodland clearings.   They spread by overground runners and it flowers between April and July.  Attractive to a variety of insects including White-tailed Bumblebees, Green-veined White Butterflies, Silver Y Moths and Common Carder Bees.

Low growing and creeping, Bugle has larger, oval leaves spread out in a rosette at its base and smaller leaves that grow up its flower spike; small purple flowers sprout in between the leaves. The flowers are shaped like skirted ladies, often with faint stripes running down them and with protruding stamen poking out over the top.
