Geocache Description:

Geocache is placed at the very beginning of Ruhja river that starts from the Lake Ruhijärv that is located in Viljandimaa, Estonia. In summer Lake Ruhijärv is a paradise of water-lilies. The sandy beaches attract people to bathe and enjoy. The place is perfect for fishermen who go out on the lake in a boat, or for hikers who plan to stay overnight by the lake. However, be patient: there are a lot of insects in this scenic place.

This geocache was placed during a hiking trip by 16 latvians with a purpose to find the beginning of the Ruhja river. The journey started from the Lode village in Latvia and led throught forests and across meadows for about 13 kilometres, we crossed streams and small rivers, climbed over beaver dams and got stuck in marshes but finally made it to the Lake Ruhijarv. To celebrate this trip, a geocache was hidden, as an invitation to visit this area that has got beautiful nature and landscape and the lake by itself is magnificent.

To find a geocache you must chose one of the river banks - there is a wild cow pasture on the right side (looking towards the lake) where you must be careful not to make the animals too interested about yourself. On the left side there is a field that is easy walkable, but there you will have to cross a small ditch and also later the Ruhja river because the cache is on the right side of it. The river can be crossed on three fallen logs. In any case the area is quit wet so waterproof footwear is recommended.
