Ground zero offers a lovely view of the river, and you don't even have to leave the walkway to make the find! Extreme muggle stealth may be required at times, but the cache can be retrieved easily with a little creativity even during the busiest of events.
"Franken" represents the Province of Franconia in the Kingdom of Bavaria, where the original settlers were from. The German word "Mut" means courage; thus, the name Frankenmuth means "courage of the Franconians." Frankenmuth was settled in 1845 by 15 Germans, led by the Reverand August Craemer, a Lutheran minister. The small band of settlers came to the area from Neuendettelsau, Germany, for the expressed purpose of evangelizing to the Native Americans. The first structure built was a church, and the second a school. Only seven years after their arrival, Frankenmuth boasted 80 cabins and farmhouses.
Today Frankenmuth is a favored tourist destination, boasting such indoor attractions as The Bavarian Inn, Zehnder's Restaurant, River Place Shops, and of course Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, billed as "the world's largest Christmas store". It also boasts a wealth of outdoor attractions such as the Cass River, Heritage Park, and the covered wooden bridge. This cache is designed to take visitors out of the "tourist zone" to enjoy a moment along the river. One point of interest is the "Rock ramp fish passage" at the Cass River Dam, a series of carefully designed rock rapids that allow fish to travel up over the existing dam in order to reach spawning grounds upstream. This feature is readily visible from ground zero, near the Lager Mill.
Congratulations to Joy2u for being the first to find!
