Geocache Description:

This is a camoed micro tucked away nicely, hidden from view.  Please return exactly as you find.  You will want to use the builtin stepstool unless you are a monkey.

This is the apex of the Castlewood section of the Fullerton Loop with an excellent view south.  On clear days you can see Knotts, Catalina, and the Port of Long Beach.  If you are lucky enough to be here on a crisp day (just a few per year), you'll be treated to a view of the deep blue Pacific Ocean and the passing tankers!  The best chance at a crisp day will be during Santa Ana winds (preferably within a few short days after rain) on a weekend morning.  The day I scouted this location was one such day, unfortunately not to be repeated on the day of placement.  Nonetheless, this is highest point on my favorite 3 mile round trip segment of the loop to hike on a hot sunny day.  The cache location will bring you to the best view on this segment of the Loop. The cache is here for the view not for the swag. Muggles pass through but you will have extended periods to search if needed.

There are several places to begin your hike.  You can hike west after parking on Castlewood just west of Gilbert: beware of bikes coming at you downhill.  You can hike east from some of the condo complexes: bikes are travelling uphill so very slow.  Both of these hikes are approximately 0.5 miles one way to the cache with several hundred feet of elevation gain.  You can also walk in from the single family home neighborhood: be careful not to drool over the peaceful streets with excellent views.  This will be a shorter walk depending on your starting point.

This is also a great location for an evening view of the Southland, although the trails technically close at night.  However, beware of night mountain bike riders with very bright headlamps not expecting walkers.
