Geocache Description:

"ALABAMA SPIRIT QUEST"

It is my hope that the Alabama Spirit Quest will become a series of caches placed by many cachers, near cemetaries and historic sites with the intent of paying respect and tribute to those who came before us.

There are literally hundreds of cemetaries throughout the state of Alabama, some very well known and others forgotten over the passage of time.It is my hope that this series will introduce you to many of them.

The Alabama Spirit Quest is not affiliated with any other Spirit Quest group. Special thanks and credit go out to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. This idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The ASQ can't be accomplished by just one or two people. This series will only grow if there are a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place these caches.

If you are interested in placing a cache in this series please contact me using the send message link located on my profile.

Each person who places a cache in this series will be responsible for its maintenance.

MOORE CEMETARY

This cemetary is located on the south side of Greenbriar Road about  .15 miles west of the intersection of Golden Springs and Greenbriar Roads. This is a very small cemetary located in the middle of an industrial Development. There are a total of 10 graves located within the cemetary one of which is an unmarked grave.

From the Bessie Coleman Robinson Collection in the Alabama Room at the Anniston-Calhoun County Public Library I found the following brief history of those buried here.

Benjamin Moore and wife, Mary Bell or Belfast, came from Ireland to America...in 1839 to Benton/Calhoun County, AL...son, St. John Moore married in 1860, Mary Elizabeth Wilson Snow, widow of Albert Bird Snow.....sold home in Cross Plains and moved to her home in Choccolocco Valley then in 168 moved to the farm where St. John Moore died in 1899.

You are looking for a camoed pill bottle containing a log only so please bring your own pen.
