Geocache Description:

An enjoyable stroll along the northern end of Holloways Beach (best taken at low tide but accessable at high) will find you near the mouth of Thomatis Creek. Prepare yourself for a 2k return walk, be sunsmart and crocwise. The locals are a friendly bunch and exercise their dogs along this stretch of sand, they should not however hamper your search.

This cache is log only so please supply your own writing instrument.

In March 1999 under the cover of darkness in the early hours of the morning, a 35-metre cargo boat with 26 Chinese nationals on board ran aground at this spot on Holloways Beach. These peopple were carrying large sums of Australian currency, spare clothing and lists of Australian contacts that would help them to blend into the Chinese/Australian community. These 26 people ran into the mangroves and bushland to avoid detection, all were soon aprehended.
I guess they were not informed of our crocodiles, snakes, sand flies or mosquitos. All of which you should be mindful of in Far North Queensland
